What does Portfolio Plus mean for the parent?

Standardized test scores show parents how well their children are doing in comparison with other children in a class or even in the nation. Portfolios allow parents to see tangible evidence of what their children have learned in the arts. They do not have to rely on a summary judgment or on the interpretation of stanines and quartiles. Students will be able to share authentic evidence of their learning in the arts with their parents, and when developed, Web portfolios will allow parents ready access to view their children’s work in progress. Parents will learn to what degree their children are receiving the instruction in the arts to which they are entitled and whether their children’s teachers are provided with the time and resources to deliver instruction that enables them to meet or exceed State standards.
