The Maryland Fine Arts Instructional Tool Kit is an online resource created by the Maryland State Department of Education that has been developed to enhance understanding of how fine arts curriculum, instruction, and assessment processes affect teaching and learning. AEMS, working in partnership with the department, offers professional development to school systems in the use of the Tool Kit to implement Maryland State Curriculum for the Fine Arts’ best instructional and assessment practices. Workshop activities include navigation of the online Instructional Tool Kit and a review of the grade-by-grade (PreK through 8) State Curriculum content standards and measurable objectives. AEMS Alliance is the only organization currently providing statewide professional development workshops in the use of the online Instructional Tool Kit. To date, 500 teachers and education practitioners have attended these workshop sessions.
